Why I started this project

I started this project because I'd always wanted to make something like it, and now I had the chance.

I learned most of what I know about programming on my own. There are so many courses for sale that I think some people never start because they don't know where to begin. Maybe they can't afford a course, or they're afraid it won't suit them, they won't like the instructor, or they won't enjoy programming and will have wasted their money.

I want to show that you can learn using free resources. You can also discuss programming for free in a community of other learners, find answers, and work through difficult topics together.

Start learning and see whether you enjoy programming. Then you can decide if you need a course or have enough motivation to learn at your own pace. I've noticed two common course models: one large, expensive course or many small ones. If you don't like one, you may end up paying for another.

‼️ I'm all for paying for good content. But people just starting to program may not know what they're getting into or how it all works. They may not like the instructor either, and that matters a lot when you're learning.

So I want you to start for free. If you find programming interesting but struggle to study on your own, you can make a more informed decision about paying for a course.

You could also pay a good developer to answer your questions or tell you about their work. That conversation might be what gets you started.
